Mt. 6:1-4 Giving to the NeedySermon on the Mount
"For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life."
John 3:16
We shall now return to the Sermon on the Mount. Bible.org also has a sermon with explainations on Matthew 6: The Practice of Righteousness. We shall look at each section as an individual lesson. Have a blessed day!
Givng to the Needy
"Be careful not to do your 'acts of righteousness' before men, to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven. 2"So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. 3But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. This one troubles me some. These days, most things are done by check or credit card. It is very difficult not to let others know. Besides that, doesn't the government want to know also? Hmm. I must study this one some more.
